JoAnn Wiltz of Hope For Paws received a notification about an abandoned dog living in a residential area. Neighbors said that for an entire week, the dog circled the block repeatedly. To rescue the poor animal, JoAnn asked Jacqueline Artecona of Pitties and Pals Rescue to come and join in on the mission.
The rescuers learned that a few days prior, animal control tried to catch the dog. Unfortunately, they failed.

At the scene, JoAnn and Jacqueline saw the terrified Pitbull resting under a parked van. They tried to get her to come close to them, but she’s too scared to be near humans. And so, the ladies decided a trap would be their best option of catching her.
The women set up a trap and waited at a safe distance. When the dog smelled the food inside the cage, she stepped right in, and the trapping mechanism activated. While she felt a little nervous, the Pitbull quickly realized she’s safe.

On their way to the rescue center, JoAnn and Jacqueline decided to name the dog Acacia. Once they made it to the hospital, the vet team attended the dog right away. The doctors determined Acacia suffered from a perianal mass under her tail. And she also had a tumor on her eyelid.
The rescue started making Acacia feel better by giving her a nice bath. Then, they made sure she’s healthy enough for surgery. The mass under her tail caused stomach issues, so the vets removed it.

Hooked on fluids, Acacia stayed at the hospital for a few days. Once she started feeling better, her real personality began to shine. She enjoys playing with other dogs and is particularly obsessed with cuddling and spending time with humans.
Now, Acacia is healthy and ready for some more love. Anyone interested in providing her a forever home can reach out to It’s The Pits Dog Rescue.
